It was months ago at the Crazy Elephant Jam that I first saw the Dirty Dealers. I thought they were quite good so I asked the singer Mathilda to let me know when and where they would be performing next. At that time she was rather vague about it telling me they were not ready yet and would be working on it.
A little while ago Mathilda came through though and sent me an invitation to the gig at China One, Clark Quay.
It
turned out however that on that weekend we also had a visitor from
Germany, and I was not quite sure if she would be into Hard Rock and
metal music. Luckily our friend is a fun loving easy
going person that, as many times before, responded with a big smile and
the word “sure” when we proposed to go see the Dirty Dealers

It was an early gig, 8 PM
so we decided to go for Japanese at boat quay a little earlier. When we
arrived at south-bridge and boat quay it turned out that our regular
Takanashi was closed.
I vaguely remember there was another Japanese restaurant at boat quay
so, with our minds set on Japanese food we strolled down further and
found the place. I cannot recall it’s name though, but we had some good
food.
So
with food under the belt we were back at China One well before the
place started filling up and therefore found ourselves a decent seat. It
is a bit challenging at China one because the
whole area right in front of the stage is reserved for dancing. Tables,
therefore, are to the left or right but some behind pillars.
Once
the band had started China One was pretty much full. This was helped by
the free flow deal, and a strong following of Mathilda, who of course
invited the club members of her boating team.
The
band showed that practice had paid off. We listened to a couple of sets
of great covers and it was all well performed.
Maybe for Metal, the show was a
bit friendly,
but with the free flow having
it’s effect on the members of the German boaters, Mathilda was clearly
inspired to put change the paddle for the Metal and unleash her inner dragon's voice!
and the band members were in full support of that.
